WHAT WE DO
Masonry is one of the earliest known methods of construction. The strategic use of masonry has been used for centuries to achieve stability of walls, arches and other foundational architecture of building structures. The technologically advanced masonry of today is thinner and less massive and therefore rely on added structural reinforcement to work most efficiently with the laws of gravity.
The Restorers Group Inc. recognizes that restoration needs and the techniques employed will vary depending on the initial construction and design methods of the structure. Our expertise and experience in masonry building restoration include the restoration of 19th century stone structures and rehabilitation of modern buildings.
Concrete restoration begins with identifying and correcting the root causes leading to concrete failure. Accurate identification of the problem and site exploration allows The Restorers Group Inc. to focus and develop the correct restoration sequence. This sequence includes effective and efficient methods, specialized products, and a strategy for long term protection of the structure.
Weatherproofing is the science of protecting building members against adverse and extreme weather conditions. The Restorers Group Inc. expert application of products and systems to repair and maintain your structure include allowances for architectural design, environmental conditions, and planned usage of the structure. Our attention to detail greatly contributes to positive long term results.
When existing structures require reconstruction or new facilities need to be built, The Restorers Group Inc. offers project management and general contracting to ensure professional completion of the project. We gather the right team of The Restorers Group Inc. experts along with our carefully vetted subcontractors to yield the level of results expected by our exacting clients.
Heritage buildings may require a specialized solution with respect to condensation and damage related to moisture. Glass curtain wall systems and insulated metal wall systems provide a remedy for water-related damage. Heritage buildings and structures need protection from the weather and atmospheric pollution. The use of factory-engineered wall systems, such as “EIFS” provide protection while improving the aesthetic qualities of the structure. The Restorers Group Inc. will ensure proper application of the specialty wall system needed to solve the problem.
Often the restoration or repair of a building or a structural member requires an approach that is outside the general framework of rehabilitation. The use of carbon fiber to reinforce concrete and steel structures is an example of the specialty solutions offered by The Restorers Group Inc. This unique carbon fiber system avoids the inconvenient and costly method of removing the existing structure,
The Restorers Group Inc. is committed to updating the knowledge base of our team with new products and state-of-the-art techniques needed to solve your special situation.
Historic & landmark buildings - The CN Tower
This wonder of the world is over 25 years old and still looks exactly the same as it did when first opened to the public in 1976. Through the efforts of The CN Tower staff, NCK Engineering and The Restorers Group Inc., the tower is maintained seasonally to ensure minimal deterioration to the structure. Environmental conditions can negatively affect building structures and The CN Tower is no exception. Our team of experts constantly monitor the conditions of the overall structure and provide local repairs to all levels of the tower. As a result, problem areas are corrected before weather conditions can negatively affect the structure. Our goal is to continue to provide above the line maintenance to the tower with minimal inconvenience to the general public.
Historic & landmark buildings - St. Pauls United Church
Several years of water penetration and an improper interior humidity control system necessitated a major restoration this century-old church. The Restorers Group Inc. was hired to execute and project manage the restoration plan developed by E.R.A. Architects. After fifteen months the congregation was presented with a beautifully restored space based on the original 19th century-design aesthetics.
The restoration plan involved consolidation of the existing century-old plaster ceiling complemented with reinforcement of structural supports and re-establishing the original ventilation design of the Church. The sanctuary was finished with a paint coating mirroring a colour scheme reminiscent the original 1890 design. The Restorers Group Inc. is continuing to work with St. Paul’s on the long
term strategy for the expert restoration of the exterior of this historic church.
